We aspire to a life without the fear or possibility of death or disabilities caused by brain aneurysm ruptures, and to keep families and communities whole and working. Brain aneurysms are treatable. Identifying aneurysms before rupture is critical. |
We are committed to raising funds for patients and families affected by brain aneurysms so people can get the help they need earlier and with better results. You can help by becoming a participant, donor, committee member and/or sponsor. |
We work in partnership with London Health Sciences Foundation and the Brain Aneurysm Foundation of Canada to continue funding research in London, Ontario and across Canada until a major life-altering breakthrough is found. |
WHAT IS A BRAIN ANEURYSM?
Ruptured brain aneurysms usually cause bleeding into the space around the brain, called subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), which causes sudden symptoms such as sudden and severe headache, often described as "the worst headache of my life", nausea, vomiting and/or stiff neck. Unruptured brain aneurysms usually have no symptoms. Typically, these aneurysms are small. Many unruptured aneurysms are found incidentally when tests are being done to screen for other conditions.
Dr. Mel Boulton, Neurosurgeon at London Health Sciences Centre, explains:
