COVID-19 Update #6

Message from the President & CEO

April 8, 2020

Over the past few weeks, we have had the opportunity to see our community come together in unprecedented strength, generosity and gratitude.

The reaction to our COVID-19 Response Fund has been tremendous with over $375,000 raised to date!

The funds are being used immediately to support our front-line healthcare professionals and purchase critical equipment to help support LHSC as they continue their fight against COVID-19.  Generous donations are also being used to fuel a LHSC COVID-19 research team based out Lawson Health Research Institute working around the clock to identify new therapeutic targets that will help diagnose and treat COVID-19 patients.

However, the need continues to grow. Please share this email and links to our COVID-19 Response Fund page with your friends, family and social media community.

After much deliberation, we have made the difficult decision to cancel TASTINGS 2020 (one of our signature events), which was scheduled for June 4, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  In lieu of event participation, we encourage and welcome support of our COVID-19 Response Fund

We are excited to announce that we are hosting a new online event, Heroes of Health: COVID-19 Stream-A-Thon, in partnership with Virgin Radio on APRIL 16, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Join us, online, as host J Stevens (from 97.5 Virgin Radio) streams live with guests such as Scott Moir, Tim Hicks, Jillian Summers, Madeline Merlo, the Hunter Brothers, along with top healthcare leaders, like Dr. Adam Dukelow and additional guests yet to be announced. Funds raised will support our COVID-19 Response Fund.

We are truly grateful for the many members from our donor community who are asking how they can help our hospital and our front-line healthcare professionals.  We continue to receive donations in response to the urgent need for personal protection equipment (PPE) to ultimately ensure our hospital and its staff are getting what they need.  For more information about how you can help our front-line heroes click here

We encourage everyone in our community to check back weekly to learn about other ways of supporting our hospital, and to follow our Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates.  Please visit the hospital’s website for current information about COVID-19, how to protect yourself and your family, and visitor protocols.

Please continue to stay home and practice physical distancing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

We will get through this unprecedented public health emergency together.
