Our world as we know it has changed over a very short period of time. Not in our recent memories has health care been at the forefront of our collective consciousness like it is today. During this global pandemic, we are grateful to all donors who are equipping our hospital with life-saving resources to combat COVID-19.
Legacy gifts are currently playing a key role in funding critical research into improved testing and treatment for patients with the virus.
“Community support is needed now more than ever to help fight this pandemic,” Legacy Donor Margaret Skladany says. “I am very proud that our researchers and hospital staff here in London are leaders in finding the best treatment and diagnosis for COVID-19.”
Margaret is no stranger to life’s challenges. She grew up in Montreal during the FLQ crisis, lost her brother when he was just 33 years old, and spent years navigating the health care system with her husband and son, both of whom struggled with various health issues. Yet Margaret continues to live life to the fullest. She inspires those around her by volunteering and giving back. Grateful for the care her family received, Margaret made a gift of life insurance to London Health Sciences Foundation.
“I was pleased to make a gift of life insurance because it maximized my donation while also providing tax savings,” she says. Life Insurance is a popular choice for a philanthropic donation because it allows donors like Margaret to make a sizeable gift with affordable premium payments.
“I’m just so grateful for the great health care in our community and happy I’m in a good position to give back.”
Leaving a legacy to Margaret means “being mindful of how you’re helping people down the road.”
Donors who designate their estate to support the highest priority needs of the hospital can make a major impact during these times of crisis.
