Where does philanthropy come into the equation?

In Canada, the funding landscape is characterized by a collaborative model where government support is complemented by community contributions. The Ministry of Health financially supports the standard of care, while philanthropy supports innovations in clinical care, research and education above this standard. With that, the Foundation operates with complete self-sufficiency, devoid of any reliance on Ministry of Health funding. In short, it's only through donors we can do what we do each and every day.
