Make a Difference Appeal
In a large, darkened room with over 1,000 people, all is eerily silent. The air buzzes with anticipation like a current of electricity. The auctioneer takes centre stage and floodlights blast him into focus. “Ladies and gentlemen,” he begins.
This is the Make a Difference Appeal (MADA).
This emotionally charged segment of the evening is dedicated to raising money and awareness for a featured cause. For 20-minutes, the auctioneer appeals to guests for their donations. In turn, our community responds with a powerful display of compassion and generosity as bid card after bid card is raised in solidarity.
And on Saturday, November 1, 2025, we raise our cards for Cardiac Care.
KEEPING HEARTS ON BEAT
The Urgent Need for a Third EP Lab
Demand for electrophysiology (EP) services at LHSC has more than doubled over the past two decades—while the space has remained the same. With only two EP labs, our cardiac teams are stretched thin, treating thousands of patients with arrhythmias—irregular heart rhythms that can lead to stroke, heart failure or worse.
With one person in Canada dying every five minutes from heart conditions, stroke, or vascular disease, we can’t afford to wait. A third EP lab would significantly expand our ability to diagnose, treat and manage life-threatening heart conditions. The device clinic alone sees 10,000 patients each year, ensuring their implants are functioning properly.
It’s time to rise to the challenge—because every beat counts.
