Donors support early intervention programs for mood and anxiety disorders

Dr. Elizabeth Osuch

In recent news, studies show that the impact of Canada’s only early intervention program for youth with mood and anxiety disorders, called First Episode Mood and Anxiety Program (FEMAP) at London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC),  show improvements in patients’ symptoms and functioning, access to psychiatric care and fewer visits to the emergency department (ED).

FEMAP is 100 per cent funded by donors and research grants.

FEMAP is a novel outpatient mental health program that provides treatment to emerging adults ages 16 to 25, with emotional concerns that fall into the category of mood and anxiety symptoms. Treatment at FEMAP is patient-centred in a youth-friendly environment.
