Acquiring the most advanced equipment and technology

Rapid advancements in medical technologies mean better tools are available - today - that enable doctors to make much better diagnoses and perform more precise, less invasive procedures that can significantly improve patient outcomes. Just think how far technologies in your household – be it tablets, cameras, drones or phones – have advanced in just the past few years. The same applies in healthcare. However medical and health infrastructure technologies are tremendously expensive and often out of reach within current hospital funding levels. Advancing new approaches to care at LHSC

With the current funding challenges in Ontario’s health care system, it has never been more important to develop new approaches to care delivery that are more efficient and more effective to meet growing patient needs. This includes working beyond our Hospital walls with system partners to improve patient access and the transitions between care providers in the region. LHSC has played a pivotal role in helping lead development and implementation of new care solutions that improve patient outcomes and experiences, while also building improved health services within London and across the region. Recent examples include a vastly improved regional stroke initiative and a major regional electronic health record system. In both cases, patients across the region now benefit from significantly improved care, not just at LHSC, but in care centres closer to home.
