The RBC Foundation has announced a $750,000 donation to London Health Sciences Foundation and Children’s Health Foundation to support frontline education and upskilling at a critical moment in health care. At London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC), this investment will have a profound impact on nursing teams through the BETTY program—Bringing Education and Technology to You.

Developed to meet the evolving needs of today’s health care workforce, BETTY delivers short, on-site simulation training sessions directly to hospital units. These 15- to 30-minute hands-on experiences provide nurses and allied health professionals the opportunity to sharpen skills and build confidence—without ever stepping away from patient care.

“RBC’s exceptional commitment to advancing nursing training fosters a skilled and resilient workforce and drives high-quality patient care,” says Deborah Wiseman, vice president, CNE and Emergency Services, Critical Care, Clinical Neurological Sciences, Medicine and Nursing Practice at LHSC. “This kind of hands-on, in-the-moment training is a game-changer, and thanks to RBC, we’re able to bring it straight to the front lines."

The gift is part of a national $7 million initiative by RBC Foundation, announced during National Nursing Week (May 12–18), focused on reskilling, upskilling and improving the resiliency of health care providers across Canada.

This gift will accelerate the growth of BETTY across LHSC, expanding access to essential, real-time learning opportunities for nursing teams throughout London and the region. While a portion of the gift will also support paediatric simulation through the Paediatric Regional Outreach Program (PROP), the overall goal of the investment is to help embed education directly within care environments—right where it’s needed most.

“RBC’s investment is more than a gift—it's a lifeline,” Wiseman adds. “It means when our community members need looking after, they’ll be met by a team that’s confident, capable and trained for the moment."
