EVERY TICKET MAKES AN IMPACT
Since the launch of the Payday Plus 50/50 Staff Lottery in 2020, LHSC staff have shared in more than $4 million in winnings while helping improve care for patients and families. Through London Health Sciences Foundation and Children's Health Foundation, every ticket purchased helps support patient care across LHSC and Children's Hospital, funding essential programs, equipment and supports throughout the year.
Thanks to the generosity of ticket purchasers, the program has also raised close to $4 million to support initiatives like those below:

AI-enhanced ultrasound machine
This state-of-the-art CE Voluson™ Expert 22 ultrasound unit offers 3D and 4D imaging that allows sonographers to visualize fetal anatomy in remarkable detail, leading to earlier and more precise diagnosis of potential conditions. Clearer visibility means families have more time to prepare or intervene when needed. And with AI-assisted measurements speeding up exams, more patients can be seen in a day.
When you receive a medical diagnosis, it often comes with unexpected expenses. Medication, transportation, adaptive equipment and even groceries for special dietary needs can quickly add up, placing stress on patients already facing difficult circumstances. Patient Assistance Programs at LHSC provide relief when finances become a barrier to care. These programs offer support so patients can focus on what matters most—their health.
You have brought us one step closer to next-generation SPECT/CT imaging at LHSC. This advanced scanner will give physicians a 3D view of how a patient’s body is functioning to enhance diagnosis and treatment across multiple specialties, including cancer, heart disease and neurological conditions. Scans with LHSC’s older imaging fleet can take up to 90 minutes. With SPECT/CT, the same scan may take around 15 minutes, producing sharper images. This means patients will spend less time waiting, while care teams can detect disease earlier and monitor treatment more accurately.

Child Life: where healing meets play
When a child is hospitalized, fear and anxiety can overwhelm both kids and parents. Beyond medical care, young patients need emotional support—and that’s where Child Life Specialists step in. Through therapeutic play, education and personalized care, they ease stress, reduce anxiety and bring moments of joy to the hospital experience.
At Children’s Hospital, donor support funds a team of 11 specialists trained in child development and family systems. They prepare kids for surgeries and treatments in age-appropriate ways, help them express emotions safely and create comforting spaces where children can simply be kids. They even bring fun to hospital rooms, giving parents a chance to rest and recharge.
Each year, Child Life Specialists support more than 12,000 young patients during 20,000 visits, transforming hospital stays into experiences of hope, resilience and family-centered care.
Supporting a child through a serious health issue can be overwhelming—and unexpected expenses make it even harder. Unpaid leave, travel, accommodations and childcare costs add up quickly, especially during long hospital stays. The Family Assistance Program provides donor-funded emergency support so families can focus on what matters most: their child’s recovery.
Help includes transportation and parking, hotel subsidies, meal vouchers and grocery gift cards and coverage for non-funded medications, therapies and procedures. Requests are assessed individually by social workers and family resource facilitators at the Paediatric Family Resource Centre in Children’s Hospital, LHSC.
