Winners await dreamy news

They may still be unaware that they are big winners

LONDON, Ont. - The biggest winners of Dream Lottery and the 50/50 PlusTM draws may not yet be aware of their good fortune. Usually officials are able to get a hold of winners soon after the draw, but despite phone calls, e-mails, live streaming of the draws and active social media, by 11 a.m. draw officials had yet to speak in person with today's draw winners.

St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation Board Vice-Chair Tania Testa, London Health Sciences Foundation Board member Ron Mikula and Children's Health Foundation, President and CEO Susan Crowley were on hand today in the Dream Lottery home at 90 Pebblecreek Walk to help award the two biggest prizes for this spring's lottery.

Mikula kicked the draws off at 8:45 a.m. as he drew 50/50 PlusTM ticket number 5035946. The ticket was purchased by Dale Wilson of London, who will receive $475,935 which is half of the $951,870 prize pool -the largest recorded since the 50/50 PlusTM began in the spring of 2013.

At 9:15 a.m., Testa drew ticket number 034769 for the Dream Lottery's Ultimate Grand Prize - the choice between a London house, a Bayfield container home, a London loft-condo, or $1 million cash. The ticket is held by Walter Ostanek of St. Catharines.

Dream Lottery was extremely popular this year, selling 98 per cent of available tickets. The popularity was due in part to the three home prize options which were open for tours during the ticket sales period. All three options received rave reviews from visitors.

Winning numbers for the lottery's other final draw prizes were pulled yesterday (July 11) at the office of Deloitte LLP, 255 Queens Avenue, Suite 700, London, Ontario. All winning numbers were drawn under the supervision of accountants of record from the firm Deloitte LLP.

The primary purchaser of each winning ticket will be contacted by phone and/or mail. The names of major prize winners will be published on Thursday, July 21 in the Our London newspaper. A complete list of winners will also be posted on-line at www.dreamitwinit.ca the same day.  All lottery rules, along with details on prizes and cash alternatives are listed on the lottery website at www.dreamitwinit.ca.
