Meet Renee Silberman
In 2019, Renee Silberman was cooking when the sleeve of her dress caught fire. The flames raced up her arm, leaving her with burns that covered six per cent of her body. She was eventually transferred to Victoria Hospital and there, she met Dr. Tanya DeLyzer, a plastic surgeon. Dr. DeLyzer performed several surgeries, skillfully grafting skin from Renee’s thigh to repair the burns on her arm, neck and face. After years of physical therapy, Renee has now returned to her busy and colourful life.
