On April 26th, Danielle Lambert received a life-changing phone call.
“Do you know what today is?” a staff member of the Payday Plus 50/50 LHSC Staff Lottery asks. “We did a draw at 10 a.m., and one of your numbers was pulled. You've won $32,754!"
Danielle's heart skipped a beat. Tears welled up in her eyes before she even had a chance to fully grasp the news. She couldn’t believe it.
Danielle has been a valuable part of London Health Sciences Centre (LHSC) for over a decade. From portering at University Hospital to partnering in the management of Patient Access and Flow, she has worked in many different areas over the years. Currently, she is the Executive Assistant to Deborah Wiseman, President Victoria Hospital.
Winning during Administrative Professionals Week—a time dedicated to honoring the hard work and dedication of administrative professional staff like herself—felt particularly extraordinary to Danielle.
“This money is game-changing,” Danielle says, her voice shaking with emotion. “You never think it will be you.”
For years, Danielle and her partner, Christopher, had been saving to buy a house. The prize money would finally allow them to put a down payment on their dream home.
The Payday Plus 50/50 LHSC Staff Lottery (Payday Plus) prize will also allow her to reconnect with loved ones. She and Christopher are planning to take a long-awaited trip to Jasper, Alberta, to visit friends who they haven’t seen in five years. While there, they will cruise on Maligne Lake to reach the breathtaking and secluded Spirit Island.
Danielle had been buying tickets for Payday Plus since it started in 2020. When asked if she would continue playing, Danielle's response was an enthusiastic, “yes!”
Funds raised from Payday Plus benefit the incredible staff at LHSC, like Danielle, while also providing vital support to patients and their families through London Health Sciences Foundation and Children’s Health Foundation. This initiative transforms the lives of the winners and makes a significant impact on the entire community.
